Your #FollowFriday format sucks and here’s why.

Today is Friday; Follow Friday as its called in Ye ‘Ol Land of Twitter. Its also the day that my feeds get saturated with tweets like the ones above. I see dozens upon dozens of Tweets from people suggesting for us to follow someone by mearely throwing their name into a sea of other names. This doesn’t work for me. With hundreds of suggested people to follow why would I, one, take the time to do so and, two, why would I follow that person anyway? What if all that person talked about was the migrating secrets of a Pigeon; or lack there of? Petey: The Drift Pigeon might be interested, but I certainly don’t. So lets try something new today when it comes to Follow Friday suggestions. Take a look at my example below:

That is my FollowFriday tweet from last week. Rather than including fifteen-hundred suggestions that will only get lost in the clutter, I decided to go a different route. I gave brief description of the person I was suggesting my followers to check out; Beth Chryst in this case. Although, Im not providing you with a numerous suggestions, I make up for it in context and ultimatly provide you with a specific reason why you should (or should not) follow this person. No more wasting your time loading their profile and bio to see if they are someone you want to follow or not.

From the looks of the poll I released last week, it seems that the majority of you don’t even pay attention to Follow Friday suggestions. It shouldn’t be that way! Never the less, do you think if more people followed this format the “I look past the clutter” vs “I follow recommendations” ratio would drop? Im curious as to what you guys think.
